About

Meet the Candidate

SC HOUSE DISTRICT 8

Demetrius Carson

Veteran. Small Business Owner. Church Leader. Father.

I am a lifelong servant committed to Anderson County and the people who call it home. As a veteran, small business owner, church leader, and father, I understand the responsibility that comes with caring for a family, creating jobs, serving a community, and answering the call to something greater than myself.

In the military, I learned duty, accountability, and the importance of showing up when it matters most. As a business owner, I understand the challenges facing local employers and the value of creating opportunities for hardworking people. Through my church and community service, I have seen that real compassion means more than words—it means rolling up your sleeves and helping your neighbors.

As a father with children in high school and college, I understand the concerns families face every day: education, safety, job opportunities, and the future our children will inherit.

I am running for South Carolina House District 8 because I believe leadership is service—and Anderson County deserves a representative who will listen, work hard, and put people before politics.

VALUES

I BELIEVE IN

FAITH

My faith teaches me that serving others is more than words—it is a responsibility. I believe in leading with humility, showing compassion, and working to strengthen the communities we call home.

FAMILY

Strong families build strong communities. I believe we must work to create safer neighborhoods, better opportunities, and a brighter future for our children.

SERVICE

Service is not a title—it is a responsibility. From serving our country to serving our community, I believe leadership means showing up and doing the work.

OPPORTUNITY

Every hardworking South Carolinian deserves the opportunity to build a good life. That means supporting good jobs, small businesses, workforce training, and practical paths to success.

RESPONSIBILITY

Government should be accountable to the people. I believe in protecting taxpayer dollars, spending responsibly, and focusing on the issues that matter most to our communities.

COMMUNITY

Our churches, schools, businesses, families, and local organizations all play a role in making Anderson County stronger. We are at our best when we work together and look out for one another.

A VETERAN SERVING VETERANS

Having served our country, I understand the sacrifice that comes with military service—and the sacrifices made by the families who serve alongside our troops.

For many veterans, coming home brings new challenges. Accessing health care, finding employment, transitioning into civilian life, and navigating available services should not become another battle for those who have already given so much.

As a veteran, I will be a strong advocate for veterans and military families across South Carolina. I believe that those who answered the call to serve deserve respect, opportunity, and meaningful support when they return home.

My priorities include improving access to veteran services, supporting job training and employment opportunities, helping veterans transition into civilian life, and standing with the military families who sacrifice alongside them.

Our veterans served us. We have a responsibility to serve them.

VOTE

YOUR VOICE MATTERS

This campaign is about serving the people of Anderson County—not dividing them. Whether you are a Democrat, Republican, Independent, or someone who does not usually identify with a political party, your voice matters. Our community is stronger when people participate, stay informed, and make their voices heard.

You may not agree with every candidate on every issue. You may not agree with every political party. But voting is still one of the most important ways to have a voice in the future of your community and your state.

I believe leadership begins with listening. Every voter deserves to be heard, respected, and represented.

This election is about more than party labels. It is about the future of our families, our communities, and the next generation.

No matter who you are or where you stand politically, we encourage you to learn about the issues, make your voice heard, and vote.
